    Orthodontic Associates Provides Suresmile Archwires

    Last updated 1 year ago

You’ve probably heard from friends or family that wearing braces is a long-term commitment, taking more than two years on average.

    Not anymore.

While orthodontists have been delivering great smiles for over a century, traditional braces typically involve manual adjustments delivered over many appointments. Patients have come to know this as “tightening” of their braces.

    SureSmile is reinventing orthodontic treatment.

By allowing the doctor to visually define the desired position, SureSmile calculates all of the customization needed to deliver the doctor’s plan.

This customization is then precisely translated to each patient’s archwires by SureSmile robots, cutting treatment time by 30% and improving the quality of treatment results.  To find out more information about Suresmile, visit Orthodontic Associates, your local Baltimore Orthodontist to set up your consultation.

    The Benefits of Invisalign

    Last updated 2 years ago

If you’re unhappy with your smile but have written off braces as being too obvious and cumbersome, Invisalign could be the answer for you. Invisalign delivers the same great results as braces, but with many advantages traditional braces can’t match. If you’re considering improving your smile, here are some of the benefits of choosing Invisalign for your treatment:

    Privacy
When you wear Invisalign, no one knows you’re straightening your teeth. The clear plastic devices, which are custom-fitted to your mouth, click right over your teeth. The aligners are nearly invisible and almost impossible to detect. This privacy makes Invisalign a popular choice with adults who want to straighten their teeth.

    Oral Care
Maintaining a good oral hygiene routine while you’re wearing traditional metal braces can be difficult. Flossing is particularly challenging, since the metal arch wires of traditional braces prevent you from moving the floss up and down between your teeth. With Invisalign, you remove the devices when it’s time to brush and floss, so you don’t have to change anything about your oral care regime. Patients using Invisalign tend to have fewer periodontal issues than patients wearing traditional braces.

    Dietary Freedom
At mealtime, you remove your Invisalign devices and eat as you normally would. The food restrictions that come along with traditional braces are gone. You can eat popcorn, hard fruits and vegetables, bread, and all the other things that can break or get stuck in regular braces.

    Comfort
The metal edges of traditional braces tend to cause mouth sores and irritation. Since Invisalign trays are made from smooth plastic, they do not puncture your gums or cheeks or irritate your mouth.

Invisalign offers all of these benefits for the same average price of traditional braces, but only your orthodontist can determine if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign. How Do Incognito™ Braces Work?

    Last updated 2 years ago

If you’re longing for straighter teeth but are put off by the idea of wearing traditional braces, Incognito braces could get you that smile you’re after. These braces do all the same straightening work that traditional braces do, but no one will know you’re wearing them. Could Incognito™ braces work for you? Here are the answers to some common questions about Incognito braces:

    What Are Incognito™ Braces?

Incognito™ braces are much like traditional metal braces, except that they are fitted to the backs of your teeth. Since they are obscured from view, no one will know you’re wearing the braces unless you tell them.

Other than being on the backs of your teeth, Incognito braces function in much the same way traditional braces do. You will still need to visit your orthodontist for adjustments as your teeth shift into their desired positions. You will also need to stick to the same oral care regime as you would for traditional braces, including brushing and flossing regularly and avoiding hard or sticky foods that could bend arch wires.

    How Do They Work?
Incognito braces are completely customized by your orthodontist to fit the backs of your teeth perfectly. Your orthodontist will take a detailed impression of your teeth to send to the Incognito braces manufacturing lab, who will prepare the gold alloy braces and wires according to your impression. Your orthodontist will them place them on your teeth.

Periodically, you will see your orthodontist for wire tightening as your teeth shift. How long you wear Incognitos depends on your particular case.

    Do They Hurt?
Incognito braces are no more bothersome than traditional braces. Some patients initially experience some slight speech difficulties, but these clear up after a few weeks. Some soreness after getting the braces and after tightening is normal, but it is usually mild and can be treated with over-the-counter pain medications.

Are Incognito braces the key to your perfect smile? Call the Orthodontic Associates of Baltimore and learn more about all of your braces options. We’re always ready to answer your questions about how you can feel good about your smile. Call (443) 341-4948 to set up an appointment.
